Initial Evaluation

At Fine Motor Foundations, our handwriting services begin with a comprehensive handwriting evaluation tailored to your child’s unique needs. This in-depth assessment is designed to uncover the root causes of handwriting difficulties—such as fine motor delays, visual-motor challenges, retained primitive reflexes, poor motor planning, or executive functioning challenges.
We’ll also take a close look at your child’s handwriting itself to identify specific areas of need, including pencil grasp, letter formation, spacing, legibility, and writing endurance. Through fun, developmentally appropriate tasks, we gather meaningful insights into how your child writes and why they may be struggling.
You’ll receive a detailed written report highlighting your child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and individualized recommendations for support. The evaluation fee includes a Handwriting Without Tears workbook or other developmentally appropriate materials to encourage continued practice at home.
Individual Sessions
$75 | 45 min
At Fine Motor Foundations, we make handwriting fun and functional! Through creative, hands-on occupational therapy, we help children develop the fine motor foundations they need for writing success—while also targeting any specific challenges uncovered during the evaluation.
Using the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum and other evidence-based strategies, each session includes multi-sensory techniques and engaging, play-based activities that make handwriting practice both effective and enjoyable.
Parents are invited to join for the last five minutes of each session to review progress, learn helpful strategies, and receive simple at-home activities that support continued growth.
Please note: an initial evaluation is required before beginning any individual treatment sessions.
Consultation

These one-on-one virtual meetings offer personalized, practical strategies to support your child’s fine motor and handwriting development—right where it matters most: at home.
Consultation sessions are flexible and can be used alongside ongoing handwriting therapy or in place of individual sessions. Whether you’re looking for a one-time meeting to address a specific concern, a short series to build a customized home plan, or a longer-term partnership to ensure continued progress, support is tailored to fit your family’s goals.
Sessions are held via Google Meet and designed to empower you with the tools, activities, and guidance needed to support your child with confidence.
